MBO CINEMAS GET GREAT RESPONSE TO CONTESTS WITH 800,000 TOTAL TICKET GIVEAWAYS

MBO Cinemas is overwhelmed by the response to its recent promotions to reward loyal patrons with the Lucky Scratch Off and Big Ticket contests, with total ticket giveaways amounting to 800,000 pieces.

Its Director of Marketing & Sales, Mr Cheah Chun Wai said: “Everyone was an instant winner by scratching a ticket and received either popcorn, soft drinks, movie tickets and Zalora vouchers from May until August 2014.

“Our patrons were also eligible to take part in the Big Ticket contest where they only needed to answer a simple question on the most accurate description of MBO Cinemas and completed a slogan to win one of the two Chevrolet Cruze Sedan 1.8 cars or Limited Edition Transformers 4 premium products,” he said at the prize presentation of the two Cruze vehicles at Naza Quest’s Chevrolet showroom in Shah Alam.

Mr. Norzahid Mohd Zahudi, Chief Operating Officer of NAZA Quest Sdn Bhd, said: “Over the last three months we have seen great participation in MBO's Big Ticket contest all across the country. So it brings us great pleasure to now meet the lucky two who won big and to present both of these Big Ticket grand prize winners with the keys to their very own Chevrolet Cruze. No doubt, they will be happily Cruze-ing their way to their next movie!”

Creative designer Peggy Ho Peik Yee, 37, the winner of the first draw said: “I submitted four tickets and never dreamed that I would win so big and consoled myself all this time that the ‘big one’ would happen soon... and it did!”

Ms Ho who is from Kepong, worked out her slogans with her fiancé and is delighted that the Cruze will be a good replacement for her six-year-old car. She normally frequents her neighbourhood MBO Cinema several times a week.

Company manager Abu Bakar Mustaffa, 40, from Kulai in Johor, came with his whole family of seven dressed in blue which is the corporate colour of MBO Cinemas. He had been so excited that he hardly ate and slept after being told of his win.

He said: “All of us are avid movie fans and I submitted about 30 tickets for the contest. We sometimes watch movie marathons of up to four movies at one go at several MBO Cinemas in Johor state and together with relatives, have great outings at the movies!”

Mr Cheah said: “MBO Cinemas is currently the Cinema Operator with the most diversified locations in Malaysia with a total of 25 cinemas with 180 screens.

“We are happy to position ourselves via this and other marketing differentiation initiatives to engage the local community, apart from showing the latest blockbuster and best movies.

“These include our latest promotions such as Happy Wednesday, where everyone gets to watch a movie at RM9 anytime, Allstar members get 2x points rewards (excluding sneak peak shows or on public holidays), free online booking and the same prices for either 2D and 3D tickets.

“We are also having a nationwide blood donation campaign at 23 of our cinemas on 27 September. This is another opportunity for our patrons to do a good deed and be part of an initiative to make it into the Malaysia Book of Records as the Biggest Nationwide Blood Donation Campaign by a Cinema Organization, in achieving 5,000 blood donors in a single day, and at the same time get a free movie ticket & goodie bag with movie merchandise!” said Mr Cheah.
